Apostate State of World Being

An overly simplified summary of what the WindowView web site is all about comes down to one initial concept: “Looking at multiple perspectives helps one to see the greater context to what life is.”  Within each perspective—such as those at WindowView, including Change, Science, Harmony, Timeline—one still needs to do some thinking. A keyword for all of us is “discern.” And to discern means to look at the larger field of information to assess what is true as opposed to false, misguided, bias, interpretation, assumption, or anything that is misleading. To discern in a way that is fair, this requires an open mind that is willing to be objective, but also a mind that is willing to go to multiple information sources and to look around. If you sit at your ‘window’ and really look at the lager view, then you will find opportunities to be objective and to seek what is a reliable viewpoint.

The fact that scientific and theistic information can be considered together may offer difficulty for some people. If that is you, then it’s less likely you will open your mind and explore. To look at a world of change, diametrically opposing views from science, theism, business, politics, and to include the oppositional behaviors and forces posed by various nations all over the world—this all leads to something that has been long ago projected as the eventual state of being. Yes, that is already documented in advance.  And it seems we have arrived at that state. This should be a concern to all alive today.

The title of this post starts with the word ‘apostate.’ This is being referenced in relation to one portion of Scripture that describes the status of believers at a specific point in world history—and that point in time appears to be now. Apostate is a term that can be defined as: “a person who renounces a religious or political belief or principle.” And sound principles might be objective or well founded on truth. To go one step further, apostasy is more the activity of abandoning such relevant belief or foundational principles. 

Today we see persons who abandon the notion that change is occurring in the natural world—as in climate change—or that science information is helpful in addressing important issues—like taking a vaccine to prevent the further spread of a pandemic disease—or more so to contradict Scripture as religious groups decide to use Scripture in ways to their liking … and not as the biblical text intends.

This post is not going to lay down examples to say you may be involved to apostate actions or behaviors, but instead is simply pointing to this being a time when apostasy is occurring today in so many areas of the human experience—across the entire globe today—to signify something that the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures foretell as coming next. We are complex and specific human beings built on highly specified genetic information, living in a universe with highly fine-tuned conditions … so much so, as to point to our being here by design. And if that Designer is the God of the Bible, then Scripture that says apostasy will come to bring an end of an era, then you might want to see the relevance to change, science, and what the harmony of biblical texts say … and seeing how that pertains to your life right now. 

In case you are wanting a reference … from the Greek [Revelation 3:14-21], you can, in part, see the reference to apostasy through people who are material and not attentive to God’s will. Reference to repenting, for example, exposes leaders who lead for their own purposes and not in the way Scripture would point to the Designer’s will.

Ears to hear, eyes to see, fully, allow a mind to truly discern. And that is why WindowView was developed. Maybe not perfect, but certainly here to get you to do some thinking!

Cicadas – Are An Intelligent Design

Is there more to the appearance to these insects than they pop out of the ground and fly around for up to six weeks … every 17 years? Did they evolve or is there something about these lifeforms that have a higher function than what you may first think … well, a scientist has written this blog post to get you to think beyond the ordinary explanations! Read on!

Darwin’s hypotheses that certain insects have corresponding relationships and even mimic plants in ways that identify a functional relationship is often taught in college textbooks. Coevolution seems the term of art–but is this the full and true explanation? But if you have been reading the books recommended here at this WindowView blog, then you realize that life is obviously exhibiting design features. In fact, information that is at the root of every organism’s existence is complex, specific, and far beyond the reach of appearing by chance and then natural selection steps in and as Darwin says lends to the survival of the fittest. But chance and natural selection fail to explain life.

Information and the first origin of life on Earth, plus fine tuning of Earth and universe lend strong evidence to design and as you may come to realize the complexity of design really requires mind … and if that mind is behind the origin of the universe and life … then the existence of Cicadas–that now appear after 17 years of development as nymphs below ground and living on tree roots–brings up an even more fascinating observation.

As the nymphs arise out of the ground, they bore holes that end up aerating tree roots.

Cicadas by their life cycle design bury themselves underground and the nymphs live on tree roots for 17 years and then emerge from the ground. The result is the holes all around the base of trees. The real point that should be stressed is these holes aerate the soil and allow more air to reach tree roots in this 17 year cycle. Trees and shrubs benefit from air reaching roots and that this happens periodically is the key to a cyclical design.

The lack of periodic aeration plus soil compaction over time will dwarf a tree or shrub, even cause a limit to growth and a shorter life span for the plant. Insect and plant together make a design system requiring two sophisticated life forms–tree and cicada together are a complex system, even if it never occurred to you until now!

Book Review – First Look at Meyer’s Newest Writing

For those persons who are skeptical of looking at a combination of perspectives that pull together data from science discoveries and possible theistic implications, then avoiding Dr. Meyer’s book “The Return of the God Hypothesis” might make sense. A word of caution, don’t let the book title throw you toward avoidance … the writing is science, philosophy, history, discoveries and much much more!

But … avoidance comes with missing an exceptional opportunity to experience a well written text. This book is addressing much of what science reveals in a way that gently explains certain technical perspectives … but more than that … the book lays out a story of science discoveries along time. The scientists deal with certain possible approaches to expanding our human understanding of the universe, the earth, life, and what explains our existence is really is the core of what this book does best.

Further, each explanation given in the book examines multiple sides of any evidence humanity has derived over time. Seeing what works and how information, data, and our understanding from our material existence of what may ultimately explain our conscious mindful understanding beyond the material existence is exactly why you will benefit from reading this book.

If you believe your life is simply a result of natural forces and chance … you need to read this book. If you believe theistic writings alone explain why you live, then you can expand your awareness of the specificity and complexity of nature that points to the source of your life. Simply put, so many people just haven’t really experienced such a well thought out set of considerations, data, and evidence as presented by Dr. Meyer. The book is easy to read and incredible in the ultimate implications as to who you really are! And that is worth knowing!

Boundary to Science?

MARS – NASA Rover – CAUTION

History in the making comes as the NASA Martian rover, Perseverance, landed on Mars February 18, 2021.

So many people are wondering, will the rover’s instruments finally find evidence for life on Mars (be it in the past or living today). One would fully expect a rapid conclusion that such evidence is proof of Darwin’s theory on evolution.

CAUTION: Any evidence for life on Mars is possible, but the conclusion regarding evolution and life elsewhere in the universe is not only premature, but could very easily be false and totally misleading.

Persons with a material naturalism perspective have no expectation for anything but ‘nature’ to explain life. However, life contains information that is far superior to any chance origin. In fact,. highly specific and complex information supports the concept of Intelligent Design. And design certainly provides a viable explanation for life created life on Earth.

And microbes adapted to Earth’s extreme environments (e.g., in and near a volcano as one example, where there is extreme heat) could be ejected by volcanic eruption on Earth and that ejecta could travel from Earth to Mars and thus seeding life on Mars. But truth be told, rock from Mars comes to Earth as meteorites and ejecta from Earth likewise travels to Mars.

The LIBRARY of LIFE and EvoDevo: The New Option for Science Research

EvoDevo is Essentially Dead in its Tracks for Now

What is EvoDevo and what is missing in this area of scientific research?  Here is an Internet definition of EvoDevo:

  1. Evolutionary developmental biology (evolution of development or informally, evo-devo) is a field of biology that compares the developmental processes of different organisms to determine the ancestral relationship between them, and to discover how developmental processes evolved.

EvoDevo is Dead?

What puts EvoDevo into a tailspin is some of the facts that have caused real consternation in biology and evolution.  Here are just a few of the problems:

  • Embryos of animals do not exhibit a pattern across taxonomic groups that would reveal an evolutionary pathway up the developmental hierarchy posited to be the evolutionary history of life.  That is embryos of a antecedent species are not always similar to the next level of the taxonomic scale … the planes of division and pattern of development are like “apples and oranges” in their similarity.
  • The embryos drawn by Haeckel are now clearly recognized as a contrived illustration to confirm a notion and not fact
  • At the Cambrian,life appeared suddenly in a narrow, albeit several million year, time horizon.  The stratigraphy do show evidence that fossils would have been captured before the sudden appearance (as documented recently in fossil sponges found embryonic form of 8 cells or more)
  • Fossil evidence captured at the Cambrian represent unique types that serve as starting points for taxonomic groups. They start together, not one from the other.
  • The complexity of the features of each distinct group would traditionally, by conventional evolution theory require much more time than allowed by the observed data and fossil record
  • The complexity in cell types, taxonomic characteristics, and vastly different forms all point to something evolutionists gloss over … very different, specific, and complex information is required to distinguish these Cambrian life forms

In the Face of Show Stoppers

The real point here is: “Why doesn’t the current group of scientific minds accept what the raw data from fossils tell us?” Answers: Dogma? Traditional teaching? Or discomfort that evolution theory fails!

We were taught in school that science is a field that gathers data and objectively looks at that evidence to develop plausible explanations for the natural world and for life on this planet.

EvoDevo in the conceived, older, notion is’ dead (in its traditional thinking). Evolutionary biologists are coming to a point of acknowledging that natural selection working on chance (mutations) is not explanatory … evolution doesn’t work the way textbooks have reported for decades.

Look in the Library!

What EvoDevo needs to do more of is think of the Cambrian animals as distinct starting LIBRARIES of complex and specific information.  That is what initiates the complex molecules that make up biochemical pathways, structures, and all support all the inherited functions from one generation to the next. The real question is: “How complex and how deep is the library of information for each type at the Cambrian?”

If life forms appear suddenly in the history of the earth, then what information where they endowed with and how might that starting point lead to the species that appear over time?

This is the real question EvoDevo needs to address.  We need to start with the appearance of information and then see where that leads … let the evidence, not bias, lead us forward!

Antartica: Western Ice First – Now in the East A Threat of Massive Sea Level Rise

THE HEADLINE:  “An Antarctic deja vu”

The free paper at the Metro station on March 17 reveals the natural world is MELTING in the background.  You don’t see it, but it’s happening. Something a bit off kilter? The world coming to an end of its present self? A concern?

The Bible says it will be wars and rumors of wars that are the big clue to the end of days … but our environs are changing and threaten to sneak up on us with still other dramatic surprises.  Normal days will end and abnormal days will be upon us as sea levels alter the map over the entire face of the globe. We see it coming, eyes wide open, but stare at the blinding light of global change like deer paralyzed by headlights of on coming car … WHACK!  Then it hits us … but in this case coastal cities in the modern world will be the new watery Venice and Venice will be inundated and condemned by submergence.

The article gives us reason for calm by saying we won’t see the ‘WHACK’ in our lifetime. The process of sea level rise may take some time.  So lets go burn more fossil fuels and make some more heat! Yet our world won’t be the same for our kids, because sea level rise seems certain and from global human activity we “…have irreversibly destabilized the great ice sheet of West Antarctica and thus set in motion more than 10 feet of sea level rise.”

Read on … because the free paper’s article leaves out something provocative and alarming …

The Sub Header: “Ice in west may cause a massive sea level rise. Now the east threatens, too”

When ice at the South Pole melts, this is what to expect: “Meanwhile, 2015 could be the year of the double whammy – when we learned the same about one gigantic glacier of East Antarctica, which could set in motion roughly the same amount all over again. Northern Hemisphere residents and Americans in particular should take note: When the bottom of the world loses vast amounts of ice, those of us living closer to its top get more sea level rise than the rest of the planet, thanks to the law of gravity.”

In the East of Antarctica is … “the Totten Glacier of East Antarctica – the fastest thinning sector of the world’s largest ice sheet – and [scientists] took a variety of measurements to try to figure out the reasons behind its retreat. And the news wasn’t good: It appears that Totten, too, is losing ice because warm ocean water is getting underneath it.”

Added to the Western ice and a potential 10 feet of sea level rise, the Western “… glacier holds back a much more vast catchment of ice that, were its vulnerable parts to flow into the ocean, could produce a sea level rise of more than 11 feet – which is comparable to the impact from a loss of the West Antarctica ice sheet.”

HERE is the Kicker as they say … 

First, what goes on at the southern pole is only part of the story.  Up north, the Greenland ice sheet is also melting, shifting, and adding to sea level rise, now. The article on Antartica suggests some 20 plus feet of sea level rise … add to that what Greenland has to add and the ‘not in our lifetime’ might not hold up if the rate of ice melt increases – globally!

Second, and perhaps more universally than at the South Pole alone, scientist worry about an unstoppable melt … “The problem, then, is that once such a gigantic geophysical process begins, it’s hard to see how it comes to a halt. “With warming oceans, it’s difficult to see how a process that starts now would be reversed, or reversible, in a warming world,” Siegert said.”

CONVERGENCE IS UPON US

The WindowView web pages all hinge on the idea that changes in the globe, evidence from the sciences, and the harmony in Scripture all reveal something certain … foretold, hedging humanity into humility and to the point of bending a knee and acknowledging we were put here not to glorify ourselves, but instead to recognize the One who gave us life in the first place. The Earth cannot bear us any longer. We are wearing out the planet like a coat going thread bare … with no place to escape to, we are destined to face the ultimate truth … and God knows what that is. (no, that is not a pun, it is in fact truth)
